"Let's just say this is the last bridge. I've burned all the others . . . "

One of the books I am most excited about is Teri Coyne's first novel, The Last Bridge. I received an ARE (Advance Reader's Edition) of it from Random House in Denver. And . . . "WOW!" Cat hasn't been home in 10 years. But when her mom kills herself shortly after her father has a stroke, Cat returns to the home of her youth to find her mother's suicide note: "Cat, He isn't who you think he is. Mom. xxxooo"
If that kind of hook doesn't draw you in, I don't know what will! Throughout the entire book, we learn piece by piece the reasons why Cat (aka Alex) has not been home in 10 years. We also find out about whom the note was written. Most importantly, we find out, alongside Cat, exactly who she is capable of being.
This book is due to be published and available for sale on July 28, 2009.

Welcome to Bedtime Booktalks!

When librarians gather, you never know what will happen!

We were a mile high in Denver, CO for ALA MidWinter (check out our "proof" in the photo!). And for Karen and Laura, simple booktalks in our shared hotel room after an exhausting day of meetings and gathering ARCs at publisher booths brought forth a love of sharing books and authors. Our awesome friend Kristin encouraged us to start a blog, so here we are!
We plan to review a combination of adult and young adult literature (new and some not so new) from the perspective of two book-lovin' chicks who share a secret desire to one day become prison librarians.
Thanks for reading and we hope that you enjoy our "Bedtime Booktalks" as much as we enjoy sharing these books with you!
